United Way of San Diego County has a rich and deep history in the community that goes back over 100 years. A recent brand overhaul conducted by the Worldwide division meant that local and regional United Way organizations were also due for a brand refresh.

Situation

The organization was looking for a redesigned website experience that was aligned with its global brand redesign.

It was essential for the new website design to include the core impact areas in addition to auxiliary service benefits.

A successful website design includes opportunities to incorporate personal testimonials from program clients.

Task

To envision how these different features might appear on the completed website, I worked collaboratively with marketing leadership and the design agency to settle on universal components that would be utilized across the website design interfaces. Once the universal components were finalized with the development team, I was tasked with selecting imagery, ensuring content copy was properly formatted for the pages, and drafting mock-ups for over 20 unique website pages.

Results

During this process, we explored and iterated on a variety of design concepts that matched the new branding direction and incorporated opportunities for interactive design. The final design mock-ups included new color ways, design elements, and areas to incorporate client testimonials and impact stats.
